Spacecom's AMOS-3 Offers One-Hop Ku-Band Capacity for Data ...

Spacecom (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: SCC), operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, today announced that its AMOS-3 satellite now has ?one-hop? Ku-band capacity available to serve an array of data communication needs between the U.S. East Coast and the Middle East. Due to AMOS-3?s strategic location at 4?W and its beams? cross-connection capabilities, the satellite offers direct connectivity ?one-hop? service between these locations without resorting to outside fiber or any other satellite connections.

AMOS-3 is equipped with three Ku beams: Europe, North America and the Middle East. For U.S.-based clients in need of bi-directional data communication services with the Middle East, AMOS-3?s cross-connection capability uses the North America and the Middle East beams.

?We are very excited to have this additional capacity that we can now offer to our current and potential customers,? commented Drew Marks, Spacecom?s Vice President of Sales, North America. ?With one-hop capabilities, AMOS-3 is in a unique position to send and receive a vast amount of data communications between these two geographic areas.?

Launched in 2008 with Ku-band beams, AMOS-3 delivers satellite communications for a range of services, including: direct-to-home (DTH), video distribution to cable head-ends, VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) communications and broadband Internet. Located at Spacecom?s 4?W orbital ?hot spot,? AMOS-3 provides excellent coverage in Europe and the Middle East, as well as connectivity to the U.S. East Coast via one-hop Atlantic Bridge.
