China?s business aviation has had intense growth in the last few years with sales projected to grow 15 percent a year. That?s because its super-rich are now looking beyond cars and yachts to jets, an officer of Sino Jet Management Ltd. told Bloomberg? News at the Singapore Air Show this week.
A Brazilian Embraer Legacy 650 jet was on display with Hong Kong-born actor Jackie Chan?s name and a Chinese dragon character emblazoned on its fuselage, the report said. Chan was named the company?s ?brand ambassador? last year.
Embraer is competing with firms like General Dynamics Corp.? , Gulfstream and Bombardier Inc. for the burgeoning market.
Gulfstream, based in Savannah, Ga., said it would open a training facility in Hong Kong, Bloomberg said.
There were 156 civilian airports in China in 2009 and that number is expected to grow 56 percent by 2020.
